Seniors Fitness Class
The Seniors Fitness Class offers mature adults the opportunity to improve and maintain their fitness level in a sociable and supportive atmosphere. The program and the exercise classes are designed specifically for individuals 50 years or older. The program includes 2 dryland fitness classes per week and 1 shallow water fitness class (optional) per week.
How Do I Join the Seniors Fitness Class?
- Inquire about classes at the front desk of the Field House.
- Complete the necessary forms and pay your fee.
- Obtain your membership card (you must present your membership card to the Customer Service Center in the Field House to obtain a wristband and gain access to the classes).
- Come to class!
Note: Drop-ins available. If you have never participated in this program and you don't want to register for a full session but just pay a fee for the classes you want to attend please contact the Supervisor of Fitness at 864-3420.
Therapeutic & Rehabilitation Program
An exercise program designed to provide structured supervised activity for people with chronic or reoccurring injures. There are two components to the program, water fitness and the Aquarena Fitness Centre. Your participation will be determined by your health care professional.
Enrollment is completed at the Aquarena Customer Service Centre one you completed a referral form from your doctor, physiotherapist, chiropractor, massage therapist or any equivalent health care professional.
The program is for short-term rehabilitation, continuation in the program after a 6 month period will require a new referral. The instructor will monitor your activity as you progress through the program.
Arthritis Exercise Program
Developed in conjunction and endorsed by the Newfoundland and Labrador Division of the Arthritis Society. The Works Arthritis Exercise Program is a water fitness program tailored to the needs of individuals with rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and/or osteoarthritis.
Participants enjoy the benefits of group exercise, socialization and support. The program should assist individuals in maintaining a good range of motion and improve strength and stamina to complete day to day activities with more ease.
To enroll in this program you must be referred by your physician or rheumatologist
